2001 Corolla Turbo Part 2 - Custom Turbo System!

Ready for part 2 yet? Jerry brought his Corolla back to use a few months after finishing his auto/manual conversion, mandrel-bent exhaust, and custom cold air intake, among other things. Now it's time to break out the big guns! A top-quality custom turbo system is in the works and you get front-row seats!

The custom turbo manifold and custom downpipe are built out of stainless steel using the best possible quality tig welding. Credit goes to "AngryMike" Mike Young of AlphaTuning. Mike is an expert fabricator that worked with me under SCC for a while. The turbo I chose is the GT2860RS, for it's great efficiency, fast spool, and perfect sizing for this size engine and our power goals.

A V-Band connection attaches the downpipe to the rest of the exhaust.

SCC put a full system in the car while it was getting the turbo system done:

And here's the dyno sheet! If you remember, after phase 1 we made 109whp in 4th gear. Now after the turbo system, we made 222whp in 4th gear, more than DOUBLE the power output! This was running 10psi. Jerry later told me that he bought it to another tuner who increased the boost to 12psi, retuned it, and made 250whp!
