1994 Corolla Twin-Charged 4AGZE

Brandon has been working on his '94 Corolla for several years now. He started a 4AGZE swap about a year and 1/2 before meeting me. His car sat in a shop for quite some time while they tried and were unable to get it running. After bringing the car to Phoenix Tuning, we got his car up and running in a few days. First, we have a couple pictures of the swap right after initial completion. The 4AGZE is a 1.6 liter supercharged engine that makes 170hp in stock form. Then, about a year later, he decided to have the engine twin-charged: stock supercharger AND a turbo!

4AGZE swap up and running:

The turbo was so large that it wouldn't fit between the manifold and the radiator support. I built a stainless-steel up-pipe to move the turbo over towards the transmission. The TIAL wastegate was also added into the up-pipe. You'll notice the transmission is missing. We're also swapping in the E58 transmission which comes with a stock limited slip differential.

A large drain is ran from the turbo to the oil pan.

A stainless tig-welded downpipe is built, and the inlet and outlet of the radiator is altered for better fitment.

Due to reduced space, a high-powered fan is installed in front of the radiator and condenser core. This is a 3000cfm fan (not a typo).

A massive high-density Garrett core intercooler guarantees that the twin-charged air will remain within acceptable temperature levels:

There it is! A few finishing touches need to be made but it's up and running, and does the boost ever come on quickly!
